We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Catering Assistant to join our dedicated team in a dementia care home. This role is vital in supporting the nutritional wellbeing of our residents by helping to prepare and serve meals in a warm, respectful, and person-centred environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of nutritious, well-balanced meals tailored to residents’ dietary needs and preferences
- Serve food and beverages in a friendly and dignified manner, ensuring a positive mealtime experience
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and dining areas, following food safety standards
- Support residents during mealtimes, offering gentle encouragement and assistance where needed
- Help with stock rotation, deliveries, and basic food storage tasks
- Collaborate with care staff to understand individual dietary requirements and preferences
- Uphold safeguarding and dignity standards at all times
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a catering setting
- Understanding of dementia and a person-centred approach to care
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to improve residents’ quality of life

St Edith’s Court in Leigh On Sea is home to well trained and helpful staff with rooms for up to 39 residents.
