Catering Assistant

08:00 - 18:30, 36.75 hours per week.

We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Catering Assistant to join our dedicated team in a dementia care home. This role is vital in supporting the nutritional wellbeing of our residents by helping to prepare and serve meals in a warm, respectful, and person-centred environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation of nutritious, well-balanced meals tailored to residents’ dietary needs and preferences
• Serve food and beverages in a friendly and dignified manner, ensuring a positive mealtime experience
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and dining areas, following food safety standards
• Support residents during mealtimes, offering gentle encouragement and assistance where needed
• Help with stock rotation, deliveries, and basic food storage tasks
• Collaborate with care staff to understand individual dietary requirements and preferences
• Uphold safeguarding and dignity standards at all times

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a catering setting 
• Understanding of dementia and a person-centred approach to care
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to improve residents’ quality of life

St Edith’s Court in Leigh On Sea is home to well trained and helpful staff with rooms for up to 39 residents.
