Care Assistant - Nights

If you are as passionate as we are about taking care of people in later life, then we invite you to join us as a Care Assistant.

Job Purpose:

As a Care Assistant, you’ll bring compassion, energy, and fun to our residents. Your role includes providing dignified personal care, assisting during mealtimes, and provide sensitive and appropriate support with various aspects of people’s lives. Beyond physical care, you'll also be a comforting and attentive listener.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personal care including washing, dressing, toileting, and mobility support
  • Assist residents with meals, hydration, and nutritional needs
  • Engage residents in meaningful activities and conversation to support cognitive wellbeing
  • Monitor and report changes in residents’ physical or emotional health
  • Maintain accurate records of care provided using digital or paper systems
  • Support residents with dementia using appropriate communication techniques and empathy
  • Uphold dignity, privacy, and respect in all interactions
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and healthcare professionals
  • Adhere to safeguarding, infection control, and health & safety protocols

Person Specification:

  • Passion for caring for older people, especially those living with dementia
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Reliability, patience, and a caring nature
  • Willingness to undertake training and development

Devonshire House in Sudbury is home to well trained and helpful staff with rooms for up to 68 residents. At Anchor, we pride ourselves in providing 24-hour care and specialised services for elderly people, the beauty of our grounds, the quality of our catering and our engaging activities we deliver. 

  • Historic and beautiful listed building with extensive landscaped grounds in a rural setting beside the river
  • The service is immersed within an active village community. We regularly host events at the home and can attend village events or use the community shop, tea rooms or three pubs 
  • The home has lots of internal space including a cinema, conservatory and therapy room providing everyone with the space and privacy they choose
