Receptionist - Weekends

12 hours per week - Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 2pm.

Join us as a Receptionist at Anchor to make a real and positive difference to the lives of older people. You will support happy living by providing a polite, friendly and professional reception service to the location, including welcoming visitors and acting as a first point of contact. Having a customer service NVQ level 2 is desirable.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet visitors, families, and professionals with warmth and professionalism
  • Answer and direct incoming calls, taking messages and managing enquiries
  • Monitor visitor access and maintain security protocols, including signing in/out procedures
  • Support administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and updating resident records
  • Assist with scheduling appointments, meetings, and staff rotas
  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries
  • Maintain a tidy and welcoming reception area
  • Provide general support to the management team and care staff
  • Uphold confidentiality and safeguarding standards at all times
  • Offer reassurance and empathy to families and visitors, especially during sensitive situations

Person Specification:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience in a receptionist or administrative role
  • Professional, calm, and compassionate manner
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities
  • Basic IT skills (Microsoft Office, email, databases)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • A genuine interest in working in a care environment

Devonshire House in Sudbury is home to well trained and helpful staff with rooms for up to 68 residents. At Anchor, we pride ourselves in providing 24-hour care and specialised services for elderly people, the beauty of our grounds, the quality of our catering and our engaging activities we deliver.

  • The service is immersed within an active village community. We regularly host events at the home and can attend village events or use the community shop, tea rooms or three pubs 
  • The home has lots of internal space including a cinema, conservatory and therapy room providing everyone with the space and privacy they choose
