Location Manager – Rented Housing
Location: Mary Sunley House, Central Harehills
Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Salary: £29,000 per annum
About the role:
Working with different individuals every day, a Location Manager’s job is incredibly varied, and no two days are the same. At Mary Sunley House, you will be at the heart of a vibrant and inclusive community, home to residents from a wide range of cultural and social backgrounds, including a large community of Chinese residents who speak Hakka.
This is more than a property role – it’s about building relationships, supporting people to live independently, and creating an inclusive, welcoming environment. You’ll need a good balance of heart and head to manage tenancy matters, property issues, and resident engagement, while ensuring the location runs smoothly.
The role also involves close partnership working with colleagues across the organisation and external agencies, so confidence in managing relationships with stakeholders is key.
You will be responsible for:
- Managing properties and supporting residents to live independent lives.
- Letting properties, managing rent accounts, addressing anti-social behaviour, and ensuring repairs are completed to a high standard.
- Listening to residents, resolving issues before they become complaints, and fully investigating any concerns raised.
- Maintaining trust through clear communication, setting expectations, and delivering on commitments.
- Managing budgets and service charge accounts effectively.
- Carrying out health and safety checks and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
- Supporting residents with a range of needs by working with external agencies such as local authorities, care providers, social workers, and health professionals.
- Encouraging inclusion and participation in social events, both internally and within the wider community.
What we’re looking for
We’re seeking someone who is:
- Experienced in working with people from diverse backgrounds, including working with difference in languages.
- Passionate about inclusivity, with the ability to create a safe and welcoming environment.
- Skilled in working with vulnerable groups. This may include supporting people with mental health conditions such as depression or anxiety, and coping mechanisms like substance abuse.
- Knowledgeable about the local community, with the ability to network, signpost, and promote services effectively.
- A strong communicator, resilient, with problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.
- Housing or care experience is an advantage, but more important is your attitude, empathy, and commitment to making a positive difference.
