Job Title: Housing Litigation Solicitor
Contract and hours: Full time on a 12-month fixed contract with the option to extend if necessary. We are looking for someone to start mid-June/early July
Salary: £45,000pa
Location: Hybrid between home working and the Bradford office
About the role
Reporting into the Senior Housing Solicitor, we are looking to recruit a Housing Litigation Solicitor to provide an in-house expert service to the business around Housing related legal matters and to represent Anchor in Housing legal proceedings.
Duties and responsibilities to include:
- Advising colleagues on (complex) Housing Law queries.
- Dealing with housing management caseload including tackling nuisance and anti-social behaviour i.e. possession proceedings, injunction applications and more general landlord and tenant issues / litigation.
- Drafting pleadings and written statements
- Attending hearings in civil courts
- Instructing and attending Counsel
- Managing/ defending housing disrepair claims or counterclaims.
About you
The postholder will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with good internal and external stakeholder management. You will work well under pressure and be confident with meeting deadlines.
You will have:
- Sector specific knowledge of Housing Act 1988 / 1996 and other relevant legislation, guidance, and policy.
- Proven knowledge and experience relating to Housing Law.
- Knowledge of the Equality Act 2010.
- Knowledge of Data Protection legislation,
- Working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules and Pre-Action Protocols
- 3 years+ PQE with strong and current and advocacy experience
- Experience of Housing Law in practice.
- An understanding of the interface between Housing providers and Social Services (and other authorities) and understanding of safeguarding.
