Technical Manager (North)

Location: Homeworking with frequent travel within the North

Salary: £60,000 (DOE) + car allowance at £6,200

Contract: Full time, permanent

Anchor’ Development Strategy has plans to deliver 5700 new homes over ten years. We have a good number of developments in delivery already and new business and regeneration opportunities that are progressing.

Reporting into the Senior Technical Manager, we are looking to recruit a Technical Manager to cover the North of England.

About the role

You will be responsible for providing technical and commercial expertise and support to the development team, acting as the technical lead on multiple projects for the delivery of the development programme, including Regeneration and Infill projects and New Business led opportunities.

  • You will manage the pre-contract design on projects ensuring these are developed in line with Anchor requirements and reviewed for commercial and financial deliverability at all stages across design development to ensure a viable business case is achievable.
  • You will lead commercial reviews during the appraising and developing of new projects with in-depth analysis of cost plan information, consideration of value engineering, life cycle costing and commercial risks.
  • You will work in collaboration with reviews of Anchor Employers Requirements and Specifications ensuring they are up to date and refined when required and consider the needs of internal and external stakeholders and meet the organisation’s quality standards with regards to design and construction.
  • You will lead the evaluation of developments in design, new products and construction techniques and reviewing with wider Development team and relevant key internal and external stakeholders.
  • You will maintain awareness and knowledge of Regulatory and Legislative updates and the impact these will have on current and future Anchor Developments.
  • You will review and monitor the performance of Consultant’s appointed by Anchor at pre-contract stage to ensure they fulfil the scope of services that are in line with Anchor requirements including KPI’s

About you

You will have:

  • A proven track record of evaluation and delivery of designs, procurement of works and finalising contract documentation for residential projects, with a strong understanding of project technical requirements, Planning and Building Regulations and other regulatory requirements within the construction industry.
  • An understanding of the needs and aspirations of various internal and external customers and stakeholders
  • Experience of working as part of teams designing and delivering buildings in the residential and or retirement housing sector.
  • Experience of building design QA procedures including CDM Regulations.
  • Experience in commercial processes including evaluating cost plans and contractual conditions.
  • Experience of Risk Management and evaluating and mitigating risks to balance off design and commercial viability and delivery requirements.
  • Awareness of the housing and care needs of older people desirable
