Job Title: Quantity Surveyor
Salary: £53,000
Job Location: Homebased with travel as required. We would prefer a home location in the north of England, this includes Northwest, Northeast and Yorkshire/Lincolnshire.

We are diverse team of over 100 colleagues delivering resident focused property solutions. We operate through a team of 50 surveyors each with a defined group of locations and each surveyor is responsible for between 30 and 40 locations.
This is an exciting time to join us as we conclude procurement of 15-year, £1.7bn contracts. The 8 new contracts will provide a transformational approach to how we deliver services to our residents and realise efficiencies for Anchor. The Role
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will provide effective commercial and contract management arrangements, focusing on NEC and/or JCT contracts. Your responsibilities will encompass ensuring that the commercial interests, contract management requirements, and contractual obligations of Anchor are safeguarded for repairs, investment, and M&E services across our portfolio of Housing and Care properties.
Key Accountabilities will include:
- Developing robust financial forecasting and cost analysis to support the procurement team and contract delivery team.
- Collaborating with finance colleagues to ensure a clear understanding of current costs and commercial models and to establish effective payment and financial forecast mechanisms.
- Managing the financial performance of contracts, ensuring accurate financial forecasting.
- Overseeing the timely updating of all financial systems.
- Taking responsibility for cost-saving initiatives through collaboration with contractors, undertaking cost value reconciliation, and certification of payments.
- Pricing works from first principles and benchmark costs using market data to inform procurement and efficient delivery.
- Undertaking audits of commercial and contract management arrangements with project surveyors, repairs surveyors, and compliance leads.
- Ensuring commercial contractual requirements are adhered to, including payment notices, change notices, indexation requests, and variation management.
About You:
To be successful in this role we’d like you to have:
Qualifications
- Minimum degree qualification in Quantity Surveying or appropriate relevant experience (essential).
- MRICS status (desirable).
Experience
- 3-5 years of post-qualification experience as a Quantity Surveyor.
- Recent experience in commercial and contract management of NEC and/or JCT contracts.
- Knowledge of NHF Schedule of Rates.
- Experience in open-book cost management and planning, particularly in housing maintenance.
- Proven commercial experience working within the social housing maintenance and planned investment sector, either on the contractor or client side.
- Ability to interpret complex commercial and operational data to inform savings planning.
- Knowledge and experience of commercial and contract management of NEC and/or JCT contracts.
- Experience in cost-planned investment, compliance services, and/or reactive maintenance work.
- Familiarity with current market costs in the social housing sector.
- Ensure cost and contract-related contractual notices are issued in a timely manner.
