Job Title: Financial Inclusion Adviser (Be Wise)
Location: Homebased
Contract & Hours: Part Time 15 hours per week, temporary Maternity Cover for 12 months
Salary: £34,000 per annum pro rata
About the role:
Reporting into the Financial Inclusion Team Leader, you will be providing advice and support to residents and operational staff on financial inclusion matters including welfare rights, energy advice, affordability and tackling the cost of living.
You will assist residents, colleagues and applicants to claim benefits and take part in initiatives to maximise income which may include facilitation and distribution of hardship schemes.
The post holder will champion the delivery of advice and those services that support residents, applicants, colleagues and communities.
Duties and responsibilities to include:
• Provide advice in line with agreed procedures and guidance using the tools provided.
• Contribute to the updating of procedures when the need is identified.
• Encourage and support residents and colleagues to maximise their income through welfare benefits.
• Provide education and training to colleagues so they can ensure residents can enjoy their later life with Anchor
• Contribute to a positive reputation for Anchor through the provision of valued, high-quality advice.
• Maximise income for Anchor through enabling customers to pay their rent.
About you:
You will be a self-motivated individual with a can-do attitude to provide high quality advice to colleagues and customers, and be able to manage your own workload on a day-to-day basis to meet agreed priorities and targets.
Please Note: Due to the fixed term nature of the post, and the need for the successful applicant to take over a significant caseload near the start of the post, experience of having worked in a fast paced financial inclusion service involving provision of complex welfare rights advice is an essential criteria for this role.
You will have:
• Specialist knowledge of welfare benefits and the application processes
• Ability to conduct benefit checks
• Ability to deliver training on prepared topics.
• Understanding of energy advice and money saving tools
• Good IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, video conferencing) to support the application for welfare benefits, share information with others and record advice cases.
• Experience in working in a customer focussed service environment
• Expertise in a variety of welfare benefits and associated systems
* Expertise in the benefits system as it affects older people
• Experience in working with a database and handling confidential information
