The Role

We are seeking a Head of Water Safety to lead Anchor’s Water Safety Programme as the Legionella Responsible Person. Reporting to the Director of Resident & Building Safety, you will ensure compliance with ACOP L8, HSG 274, and other regulations, overseeing Legionella control, sewage waste, and radon management while embedding a compliance-first and customer-first culture.

This role involves policy development, contractor management, and resident engagement to deliver high-quality, safe water safety services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the Legionella Responsible Person, providing expertise in water hygiene, sewage waste, and radon mitigation.
  • Develop and implement water safety policies, including Legionella risk assessments and remedial works.
  • Commission and manage contracts for water safety, sewage, and radon services, ensuring compliance and value for money.
  • Develop and deliver training programmes on water safety for colleagues and contractors.
  • Lead incident management for Legionella outbreaks or water contamination, liaising with Public Health England and HSE.
  • Manage budgets, monitor KPIs, and ensure customer satisfaction through transparent resident communication.
  • Lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.

About You

You are an experienced leader with expertise in water safety compliance. You bring:

  • Deep knowledge of ACOP L8, HSG 274, COSHH, and water hygiene legislation, with experience in radon and sewage management.
  • Senior leadership experience in Legionella and water hygiene compliance, including contractor procurement.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and risk management skills, with the ability to conduct site inspections and incident investigations.
  • Legionella RP/ACOP L8 Training (P901/P904) or substantial experience with a commitment to achieve qualifications.
  • A Housing Management Qualification (CIH Level 4 or above) or willingness to work towards it, and a full, clean UK driving licence.

Why Join Us?

Join Anchor and lead critical water safety initiatives to protect our residents. We offer:

  • A competitive salary and benefits package.
  • The opportunity to drive water safety compliance in a values-driven organisation.
  • Professional development and a collaborative, inclusive working environment.
  • A chance to make a significant impact on resident safety and service quality.
